The death of Nick Kane, aged 64, occurred at the home he loved on the 18th of April with his family present.

Nick will be sadly missed by his wife Kim, his three children, their partners, and his two grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place at Pembrokeshire Natural Burial Ground, Keeston, Haverfordwest, SA62 6EE on Friday, the 9th May at 12noon.

There will be family flowers only with any donations made in memory of Nick payable to Paul Sartori Foundation or Velindre Brain Tumour Appeal, with payment made via the donate button or to Funeral Directors Messrs W & M J Rossiter & Sons Ltd Landsker House, 21 Station Road, Narberth, SA67 7DR

Paul Sartori Hospice at Home is a registered charity offering free specialised, supportive care and advice for those in the later stages of any life-limiting illness.

We provide a range of services in the patient’s home.

We aim to help those close to the patient during the illness and through the bereavement period.

The Hospice at Home service is available 365 days of the year and operates a 24/7 on-call service.

Brain and spinal cord tumour support.

Brain and spinal cord tumours are rare conditions that can be devastating for those affected and their families and are different from other types of cancer since they affect the part of the body that makes us who we are. Brain tumours affect adults and children and whilst survival has improved for many other cancers, the survival rates for brain tumours in adults has improved little in over 40 years. Velindre receives between 100-150 referrals for patients with brain and spinal cord tumours per year and survival often comes with physical and mental changes, caused not just by the tumour but also by its treatment. It is therefore a priority for future brain tumour research to reduce the side effects of treatment as well as improving survival. Stereotactic radiosurgery at Velindre means that the need for brain surgery in certain cases and reducing side effects for patients. Brain tumour research activity in the UK has been underfunded and poorly supported compared to other forms of cancer with less than 2% of the £500 million invested in cancer research in the UK every year spent on brain tumour research.

I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing - one of the fittest guys I've ever known. I joined South Wales Police with him in 1986 and worked with him in Ely and on Roads Policing. A lovely guy with nothing bad to say about anyone. Never could get my head around him eating cold baked beans from the tin mind! RIP Nick.
